UF SCAAEP

About
The University of Florida Student Chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (SCAAEP) is an organization within the College of Veterinary Medicine that is dedicated to helping equine veterinary students obtain experience and knowledge beyond the standard curriculum. SCAAEP hosts educational wetlabs, speakers, and lunch rounds throughout the year. In addition, SCAAEP travels to the AAEP National Convention and Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event.

2013-2014 Officers
Jennifer Reda - President
Jen is a third year vet student and has the honor of serving as the UF SCAAEP President this year. Born and raised in Bradenton/Sarasota, Florida, she couldn’t imagine being at any other vet school. Jen has been riding since age 6 and over the years has enjoyed barrel racing, show jumping, and breaking and training young horses. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida in Biomedical Sciences in 2010, summa cum laude. Upon graduation, Jen would love to obtain an internship and then join a practice as an ambulatory equine practitioner. Outside of school, Jen enjoys volleyball, traveling, the beach, and staying busy. She also works as a veterinary technician at the UF Large Animal Hospital.
Stephanie Hon - Vice President
Stephanie Hon is a member of the Class of 2015 and previously served as Colic Team Coordinator before becoming Vice-President. She attended Harvard University and concentrated in East Asian Studies. During her undergraduate career and her time off before veterinary school, she played intercollegiate polo and spent time as a groom. She is passionate about surgery and hopes to pursue internships and residency after graduation. Stephanie would be happiest spending as much time in the OR as possible!
Victoria Liberman - Treasurer
Vicky is a member of the Class of 2016. She is interested in equine theriogenenology. She attended undergrad at the University of Florida and has a BS in Animal Biology.
Brittany Martabano - Co-Meeting and Wetlab Coordinator
Brittany is a member of the Class of 2016. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Cornell University in 2008. Her primary interest is Ophthalmology and hopes to pursue an internship and residency upon graduation.
Rhiana McFarlin - Website Design
Rhiana is a 4th year veterinary student originally from Tampa Bay. She attended Auburn University where she received a dual degree in Biomedical Sciences and Animal Sciences. Her special interests include care of the performance horse and lameness evaluation. In her free time she participates in three-day eventing with her Thoroughbred mare. She hopes to practice equine ambulatory medicine upon graduation.
Christina Divine - Colic and Foal Team Coordinator
Christina is a member of the Class of 2016. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She grew up riding dressage and eventing in Tallahassee, FL and has a strong interest in equine medicine, particularly reproduction and neonatal care. After graduating in 2016 she plans on pursuing an equine veterinary internship.
Nichole Hughes - Secretary
Nichole grew up on a horse farm as an avid hunter/jumper rider. As a third year veterinary student, her goal is to become an equine surgeon, specializing in orthopedics. With her DVM, she plans to continue her education and complete an internship and surgical residency. Her ultimate goal is to one day build her own equine surgical center.
KT Steward - Co-Meeting and Wetlab Coordinator
KT is a member of the Class of 2016. She attended the University of Findlay for her undergraduate studies. Her main interests include equine sports medicine and lameness, acupuncture and chiropractics, as well as business and practice management. In her spare time she rides and competes in the jumper ring with her Thoroughbred, Kyle.
